Domino Positioned as a Visionary in Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine-Learning Platforms

February 28, 2018

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – February 27, 2018: Domino Data Lab, provider of the most advanced data science platform, today announced that Domino has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. as a Visionary in the 2018 Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine-Learning Platforms*. Domino was recognized for its completeness of vision and ability to execute.

“From our view, Domino’s placement as a Visionary for the second year in a row reinforces our trajectory to continue leading the data science market by helping organizations on their path to become model-driven,” said Nick Elprin, CEO and co-founder of Domino. “We feel that our focus on a seamless first-class experience across the data science process, from model development to delivery, was evidenced by the client reviews we received. We’re honored by this Gartner recognition and are invigorated to deliver, what we believe are, even greater capabilities in 2018.”

The report evaluated 16 different vendors. According to Gartner, data science and machine-learning platforms are defined as “a cohesive software application that offers a mixture of basic building blocks essential both for creating many kinds of data science solution and incorporating such solutions into business processes, surrounding infrastructure and products.” Domino believes innovation in this market focuses on cloud, collaboration, inclusion of open-source and proprietary tools, and full lifecycle management.

Domino is hyperfocused on providing a platform that empowers companies to instrument their businesses with data science so they can become truly model-driven. Last month the company announced a momentous 2017, reflected by triple-digit revenue growth, customer retention and an expanded leadership team. As enterprises increasingly invest in data science, Domino helps individuals and organizations accelerate data science work and drive quantifiable impact. Its platform facilitates rapid development and deployment of predictive models, in a central place.

“Because the platform is language agnostic, our in-house researchers can work together and build workflows that incorporate both R and Python,” said Chad Wilsey, director of conservation science at Audubon. “Domino has allowed us to scale-up our analysis faster and with less effort, empowering the most in-depth research ever conducted to predict the impact of climate change on grassland birds.”

Rick Bischoff, chief data scientist at Allstate said, “Collaboration is important in a research environment because, so often when you start working on a project, you’re siloed. You walk into the forest and all you see is trees... But when you have collaboration and you bring people in from different backgrounds, they’ll point out to you, ‘Have you thought about this?’ Domino really enables that collaboration for us because everybody’s projects are exposed... It’s accelerating the pace at which we can innovate.”
